Good vibrations

Despite some rough weather over the last few days we got to do some awesome diving thanks to our intrepid guests from Japan, Australia and Scotland. The visibility was suprisingly good (was not really expected with the windstrength of 25 knots) and we got to enjoy the pristine coral gardens of Atlantis and the Garden Wall as well as the historical dive site of the anchor of the Port au Prince. We even found what very much resembled a miniature bomb, but this is more likely to be a leftover from locals trying to dynamite fish - something, however, we thankfully never really see here.

Lionfish at the Garden Wall

The first dive today at Garden Wall was almost exclusively spent listening and feeling. A Humpback mother and calf were so close by that we could not only hear them communicating, but even felt mum's voice vibrating in our chests. We kept barrel rolling and neck twisting so we would not miss those giants glide past us, but luck was not entirely on our side - they stayed just out of visible range. When we came back up from the dive though, they were sitting about 150 meters away beside the boat and we could witness some of baby's surface plays - breaching, tailslapping and pectoral finslapping - before they headed off to some important appointment.

With the weather clearing up I am positive that we'll have a week full of fun ahead of us and some stories to tell.
